TRAPEC, the new and highly anticipated moniker of chilean sound artist Jimmy Pizarro, makes its formidable debut with the album <espejismo en enfoque óptico> [NOCUEDO EDITIONS 2026]. Taking distance from his previous proposals (INSECTO / SPRO), this fresh incarnation represents a vital and dizzying evolution: an implacable exploration of accelerated rhythms that fluidly merge into a vast and branched canvas of rich, tactile textures, blooming exquisitely in the fertile threshold between avant-garde, cerebral sound design and a hypnotic hybrid pulse of dubtechno/minimal with a marked club inclination. Throughout the immersive journey of the album, TRAPEC constructs a sophisticated three-dimensional sonic architecture where the propulsive and physical drive of sharp and crystalline transients effortlessly coexists with the minute and exquisite details of highly singular timbres, embedded in its complex and stratified landscapes. <espejismo en enfoque óptico> is an imposing work of immense sonic presence that flawlessly alternates between raw, high-energy impulses and sublime, weightless moments of peak sensory elevation. The work is presented in a limited edition CD of only 20 copies, each housed in an elegant, industrially-sealed aluminum envelope with metallic labels printed on both sides, inside of which is included a high-density matte black cardstock inner sleeve and a digital download card printed on a brilliant, bronze-pearlescent surface paper. The disruptive cover artwork is a bespoke creation by au. Mastered by au at PIMAC mastering.
TRAPEC emerges as the mature, refined evolution of the Chilean sound artist Jimmy Pizarro's signature sonic fingerprint. Under this new moniker, the producer channels his background in synthesis and audio design into the service of the dancefloor, structuring a discourse that is simultaneously physical, reflective, and introspective. The album deftly merges the progressive pulse of a dub techno/minimal hybrid with analog-aesthetic ambient textures, employing dusty patterns and saturation processes that coat the production in a patina of natural, almost geological decay. It is a cerebral sound, where modern, spectrally-designed ambient artifacts coexist with the rhythmic urgency inherited from the mid-90s Berlin school. <espejismo en enfoque óptico> opens its trajectory with <TEJIDO EN MICRO>, a piece that starts as a percussive improvisation of organic transients. Progressively, the track locks into its meter, unfolding into a sustained, high-velocity rhythm where razor-sharp, precisely sculpted hi-hats dialogue with a warm blanket of minor chords. <FILTER HL> maintains this motorik inertia, expanding the timbral palette through resonant filter modulation designed to stimulate the listener's psychophysical response. For its part, the density of <PULLEK> overwhelms through a swell of deep, low-frequency drones that meld with a rounded, 4/4 kick, subtly interacting with a sharp, metallic hi-hat line. The journey continues with <ROZZARK>, a composition oscillating between expansive, controlled static and auteur techno, adorned with playful, scattered melodic lines. In contrast, <UOTO> unfolds through a process of slow structural aging; its hypnotic pulse gains weight in a helical trajectory of suspended tension, where tape delays weave a three-dimensional space. <MACZEE> stands as the album's most orthodox exercise in dub techno, closely aligned with the aesthetic of Chain Reaction or the classic sound of Porter Ricks. Here, the pillowy sub-bass kick, wide-dynamic-range basslines, echoes, and plate reverbs immerse the listener in a state of deep suspension through prolonged repetition and subtle timbral shifts. Offering a brief respite within the LP’s narrative, <QUON> and <DARTZ> slow the tempo without losing depth. Both tracks explore a lysergic, sensory downtempo where spatiality and texture take center stage. Following this parenthesis, <RITM> recovers club musculature through a sustained rhythmic framework that reveals its elements gradually and elegantly. In the final stretch, <AONT> immediately exposes its functional dancefloor calling; a slice of hypnotic minimalism designed to maintain tension indefinitely in a set. The closure arrives with <BEATIC>, a transitional piece that subtly attenuates frequencies and manages gain, sealing the trip with an organic resolution that invites cyclic relistening. <espejismo en enfoque óptico> is a sound design treatise where digital erosion and analog warmth coexist in a delicate thermodynamic balance. Far from the utilitarian urgency of the conventional dancefloor, this work claims a dual physical and mental space. It is designed as much for physical surrender in spaces of sonic devotion—those dim-lit temples and high-fidelity sound systems where audio is inhaled—as for the private ritual of domestic listening, transforming into an object of pure sensory pleasure and quiet contemplation. In both environments, <espejismo en enfoque óptico> unfolds with effortless elegance, turning rhythmic and textural intersections into a vehicle for acoustic hedonism. Those familiar with the rhythmic sophistication of SHED, the hypnotic restraint of EFDEMIN, or the atmospheric depth of the classic BASIC CHANNEL and DEEPCHORD catalogs will find a crucial new reference point in the universe of TRAPEC.
